#NaBloPoMo: My Fantasy Vacation

I spend a lot of time thinking about travel. A lot more time thinking about it than I actually get to do it. We’ve been planning our next vacation. High on the priority list: within driving distance and inexpensive. We’ve been looking at major cities within about an eight our drive of our home. We’re planning on a nice weekend alone without the kids.

Is it my ideal fantasy vacation? No. But is travel. And hopefully to a destination that neither of us has had a lot of experience with. I do have a bucket list of vacation destinations that I’d like to see. A lot of those places aren’t within my reach while I have a four-year-old at home and an ex-husband who’s a PITA.

But ask me where I’d like to go if money (and time) was no object? There are so many destinations I’d like.

I’d love to go to Switzerland. I travelled through it, on a train, when I went to Europe in high school. But I haven’t been “in” the country. I’d eat a lot of cheese.

Next: maybe Greece. I loved the Mediterranean, and while I’d go back to Italy in a heartbeat, I’d also happily visit somewhere new. I’d like to visit all the amazing centuries old ruins. I’d like to spend some time on the beaches. And eating amazing food.

I’d love to go to Turkey. I know it’s probably not the safest place on the planet right now, but it is on my travel bucket list. Maybe a Turkish bath.

Egypt. Oh so happily I’d go to Egypt and spend some time looking at the Pyramids. Floating down the Nile.

And there are still a number of places in this country I’d head to. Colorado. New Orleans. Georgia. Hawaii. California.

And all of them out of my reach for now. But some day. Some day I’ll hit them all.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

  1. I’ve never been to Colorado – I can’t believe it.
Greece is on my list, and Switzerland is high up there!
