Remember when we were kids and our parents used to take out the camera and take pictures. It was like a special gift six months later when they finally got them printed and we could look through all the memories. Back then, photo sharing meant going back to the store and having an extra print made from your negatives.

These days (watch it, I’m about to say “get off my lawn!”), digital pics mean instant gratification. I take family pictures on my phone and can immediately share all my memories with 300 of my closest friends.  But…because I’m rarely printing those pictures (if ever), I have to be extra careful about storage.

I’ve got two external hard drives filled to the brim with back-ups of my hard drive. And it’s just the photos, not the extra crap like important financial information or saved emails. About once every six months, I drop into my hard drive and pull together the photos from the cloud, as well as our five devices and three cameras. After ensuring I’ve got them all on my hard drive, I back them up to my external drive. I’ve thought about paying for extra cloud storage—but it’s so expensive, time-consuming and it takes up so much extra drive space!

Wouldn’t it be so much better if there was someone else who took care of all those things?

Well guess what?? Amazon has launched an all-new Prime Photos experience with Family Vault. Prime members can share their benefit of unlimited photo storage with up to five family members or friends at no additional cost. Prime Photos is free for Prime members and makes it easy for family members to safely store and share all their favorite photos. You can free up all the space on your phone and create a family photo vault!

Additional new features include: Image Search, People view and Places view. And Prime members can now order photo prints, cards, photo books, and calendars directly from their Prime Photos account. And you can access your photos from where ever you are—without having to dig through your external drive and all your devices.

If you’re already a Prime member, download the new Prime Photos app today! (And if not—what are you waiting for!???)

  3. This is a cool idea, Liv. I’ve never heard of it. Great idea for younger families who are chronicling their children’s growth. Nice share 🙂

It’s a fantastic idea – and saves from bombing family/friends on FB who might not want to see ALL the pictures. 😉

  4. This is a nice app for moms, like me, who have lots of stuff to be captured. Thanks for sharing.
